Closed system
Innovative medical technology- Closed system – one-piece safety administration system with filter lines – specifically designed for the total parenteral nutrition (TPN) in the NICU/PICU
- Valve controlled mixing system
- PVC- and latex-free EVA infusion bags
- Safety administration system
- Connecting lines with integrated filters
- Special light-shielded micro-lines for highly concentrated solutions or lipids
- Check valves ensure constant pressure, thereby preventing uncontrolled mixing of solutions
- Latex-free injection ports – safety by multiple injections
- Automatic swabable valves for easy needle-free multiple connection and deconnection
Permanent venting Micro-infusion filter
Protect the patent from air embolism
- The filter once primed, the air, which may enter by connecting or disconnecting the system will eliminated automatically via the hydrophobic membrane (0.02µm)
- Solutions- and drug-resistant vent ensures continuous fluid flow by venting trapped air in the housing upstream of the filter media
- The hydrophilic membrane (0.2µm respectively 1.2µm) eliminates particles from the i.v. infusion solution

Plasticizer in Plastic material and Alternatives
NEO CARE products have been free of DEHP since 1996DEHP
Plasticizer (Phthalate) are required to achieve elasticity and suppleness in the fabrication of PVC-products. DEHP (Di-ethyl-hexyl-phthalate) is the most used frequently. Consequently it can be detached with the highest concentration in the environment.
- DEHP is extractable, e.g. through the contact with fatty solutions or even blood. Chemical reagents build up particularly quickly in the bodies of children metabolising rather slowly and poorly
- DEHP-concentration up to 81% of the total weight have been established in examinations. There is no duty to declare the substances used.
- Meanwhile the toxic effect on the reproductive system has become known. It has caused congenital effects in animal experiments and infertility. The EU has banned the use of DEHP in cosmetics, personal hygiene products and defined toys for children already.
- The EU has drafted a risk assessment and risk reduction strategy, according to which pregnant woman and small children shall be protect against DEHP-containing medical products without undue delay.
- Alternative solutions
- NEO CARE products have been free of DEHP since 1996: e.g. All infusions lines are fabricated from ND, PU-material or PE-material. Even the bags to mix infusion solutions have been made from EVA-material containing no portion of PVC, DEHP or Latex.
- PVC-free products like PE (Polyethylene), PP (Polypropylene), PO (Polyolefin), PU (Polyurethane), Silicone, EVA (Ethylene-vinyl-acetate) contain no phthalates.
- ND-products have been produced from PVC with migration resistant plasticizer like e.g. tri-mellite-acid-ester (TEHT / TOTM). A vital advantage is that this material has the same physiological characteristics (Hemocompatibility) as standard PVC thus representing a cost-effective alternative as well.
